Last Year, I had the honour of working with upcoming musician Matthew Read to create short animations to be showcased on his spotify canvases for his new EP entitled Keep Your Heart Aside.
These animations were also used on his social madia accounts as promotional work to showcase the vibes of his songs.
Need It Most
Need It Most is a song about the light of a person that guides you through life and helps you when you need it most and how this light can burn out if that person does not focus it onto themselves when they are in need of it.
The sun is symbolic to this idea of guiding you the right way, with people who save others who are struggling are seen to be the light amongst the dark.
April’s Peonies
April’s Peonies are the national flower of China and the area Matthew lived in called Luoyang was famous for its display of these flowers. Matthew’s journey whilst in China began here and I believe these flowers are a symbol of the blossoming of this journey.
This animation symbolises his journey during that time as he is using a guitar as his paddle and the pattern on the side of the boat has highlights of the shape of a peony pattern.
